I think that is the essential part of prayer
that many people miss. We listen and allow God
to change us.
Thankfully God is immutable.

I agree. I liked your question to one of your kids (can’t remember which: “Are your prayers a dialogue or monologue-ish?”

I also think this is an important concept for friends and family, at least those you trust. There is a concept of guarding your heart and being careful what you allow into it that could change it.
