Progress?

Posted on 2007-09-12. Filed under: Life |

Today, I came that much closer to completing G’s bed.

I billed just over my goal for the day.

I spent some quality time with G.

I spoke with a friend who’s going through some things himself and ended up receiving encouragement in my own struggles.

I made Spaghetti Pulcinella for dinner. It’s pasta in a cream sauce (panna) with broccoli and shrimp. Very yum!

I washed a load of clothes and now have two loads to fold.

I read a chapter on liturgical prayer.

I watched some UFC fights that were quite good.

I worked out a little bit – my workouts have been missing this week because of all of the other demands on my time.

I stood in an empty house and bellowed and screamed until my voice box gave out and now I sound even more like Barry White than normal.

I had some Peanut Butter Delight.

I’m still waiting to turn the page…

Boundaries

Posted on 2007-09-12. Filed under: Life |

I’ve learned a lot about boundaries this last few months. I’ve learned that my boundaries have often been unhealthy. With some people, I haven’t even had them. And with others, they were artificially too far out.

But, if you call me three times in a row, send me a text message to call you back and then try to open a chat session with me online all in the space of 5 minutes, it better be a damn emergency! Especially when it’s after 5 PM!!!!!!!!

And stupidity on an end-user’s part does NOT constitute an emergency on my part!!

I’m setting boundaries with some people now with whom I haven’t had them before. And it’s frustrating when they just don’t get it!! 😑

The Daily Grind

Posted on 2007-09-12. Filed under: Thoughts |

Life is just too daily sometimes. πŸ˜†

There’s a never-ending list of things to do and most of them are things you did yesterday and things you will have to do again tomorrow.

But life is not just “daily”. As was said in an earlier post, it’s the moments that actually make life.

Praise God for the memorable moments. And praise God for bringing me through the moments that I’d like to forget. And praise God even for the mundane moments. Yes, they’re wearisome. But there is a purpose to them. And listen, if I’m in a melancholy mood, don’t repeat this to me ’cause I won’t want to hear it. πŸ˜€

Now, hopefully that purpose makes the mundane moments worth it. If the purpose doesn’t, then perhaps the mundane moments need to be replaced with moments that are in pursuit of something that IS worth it.

Hey, after each day, at least I’m still hoping for another one. πŸ˜‰

Psalm 68:19

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Selah

Anxiety Anti-Remedies

Posted on 2007-09-12. Filed under: Thoughts |

I was reading this article (http://www.ccesonline.com/whatdoyouknowaboutanxiety.htm) and found this quote spot-on:

WORDS TO AVOID USING WITH AN ANXIETY SUFFERER:

– Just pull yourself together.
– Just relax.
– Stop worrying.
– Just ignore your problems.
– Snap out of it.
– Take a vacation, you’ll feel better.
– Just have more faith, or pray more.
– Your problems aren’t so bad. You should be able to cope.
– Is God punishing you for some sin?

Power-Packed

Posted on 2007-09-12. Filed under: Prayers, Thoughts |

I’m getting a new-found respect for the Prayer that Jesus prayed. There’s so much packed into it:

Our Father who art in Heaven,
   Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
   Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
   But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power
   And the glory, forever. Amen.

Amen.

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. Psalm 107:19-21

Three in One

Posted on 2007-09-12. Filed under: Quotes |

I received this poem inserted into a thank-you card given to me by a friend whose mother had passed recently. The poem was written by her mother and I thought I’d share it for the moms out there.

Three in One

It bothers me occasionally
That I lead a double life
And I wonder what I'd rather be
Than a mother and a wife.
The wee, small voice inside me
Which represents the third
Clamors away unceasingly
In an effort to be heard.
If my head told me to listen,
I'd be tempted, that is true.
But, my heart, so much the wiser,
Should tell me what to do.
For the heart is the keeper of secrets
And the secret it keeps from me
Is knowing that I could only be happy
As long as I'm being all three.

Gotta go to work mon!

Posted on 2007-09-12. Filed under: Life |

This morning, I have to head out and replace a firewall that died late yesterday at a client site. It shouldn’t take too long.

I fell asleep last night again without realizing it after B & I talked some. G’s bed is almost put together; now we need mattresses and he’ll be ready to go!

Man, life has seemed so busy this week. I’m literally collapsing at the end of each day into slumber.
